We primarily sell varieties produced through our breeding program. If you are looking for standard varieties, you won’t find them here. Our varieties are likely to be of interest mostly to people who are looking for something unusual or who are doing their own backyard potato breeding. These varieties generally don’t have yields that are comparable to standard varieties. The tubers are usually much smaller as well. In exchange, you get unusual colors, shapes, and flavors that are not found in standard varieties. In most cases, I don’t plan to offer these varieties indefinitely. I offer them while I grow them in quantities to use for breeding. When I feel that I have captured their most interesting traits in better varieties, I either preserve them in very small numbers or stop growing them entirely. While we are vigilant about controlling potato diseases for obvious reasons, these are not certified seed tubers and they carry a slightly higher risk of being infected with viruses than certified seed does.
