What is a day neutral potato? Pretty much any potato that you can buy at the grocery store. Day neutral potatoes will form tubers at any time of year. This distinguishes them from Andean potatoes, which don’t form tubers until fall. I mostly work with Andean potatoes, but I also make crosses between modern or Chilean potatoes and Andean types to try to produce varieties that can be grown more widely. If you live outside the Pacific Northwest or climates with similarly mild autumn weather, these are probably the varieties best suited to your conditions.
