Virus Matrix for Clonal Root and Tuber Crops

Best viewed on a large screen.  I use these tables for quick reference when testing our crops.  (We don’t test for all of these viruses, as most have never been seen here, but any new accessions are tested as comprehensively as possible.)  It includes both information from published studies and from our previous test results.  There are many viruses that are cross-infectious among these crops, so any attempt to eradicate a virus must consider all possible hosts.  And this is only the information that we know.  Notice that potato is infected by many more viruses than the others.  Do you think this is because potato is particularly vulnerable to disease?  I don’t.  Potato is much more heavily studied than the others.  A lot of those empty boxes are probably going to be filled in over time. 

The tables are sortable, just click the headings.  Boxes with red marks indicate viruses that we have had positive hits for in the past.  Viruses in green are those that we routinely test for in affected crops.

I don’t guarantee that this page is complete or up to date, although I do my best to stay on top of things.  This page is more for my use than for public use.  Additions, suggestions, and corrections are all most welcome though.
