Solanum tuberosum subsp. andigenum 2x

PI 195186 at Genesys

Accession Details

A goniocalyx type diploid collected in Peru before 1951.   S type cytoplasm (Hosaka 1988).

Observations

TPS.  Poor germination and seedling survival on the first two attempts.  Fair results on the third and final try.  Tubers mostly elongate, a few compressed or obovate.  Mostly whites and light yellows, a few reds.  A few russets.  White to light yellow flesh.  Most plants probably short day with poor tuber development before the equinox.  White flowers.  Short to mid stolons.  Moderate flowering and seed set.

Commentary

“Runtus Papa” means “egg potato,” probably referring to yellow flesh.
