Accession Details
A phureja type diploid collected in Ipiales Colombia in 1948. Grin notes late blight, ringrot resistance. S type cpDNA (Hosaka 1988).
Observations
TPS. Poor germination and seedling survival on the first attempt, much better on the second. Tubers round, compressed, elliptic, ovate. Shallow to moderately deep eyes. Whites, reds, yellows, a few blues. Yellow or white flesh, a few with a bit of red. Mostly short stolons, a few long. Mostly long day tuberization, at least on the second attempt.
Commentary
This is a good example of why I retry accessions that perform poorly the first time. The picture below was the 2019 result. The picture above is the 2020 result.
