Accession Details

A stenotomum type diploid collected in Bolivia in 1956.  GRIN notes resistance to ringrot, Verticillium.  S type cytoplasm (Hosaka 1988).

Observations

TPS.  Tubers mostly elongate, some elliptic.  Mostly whites, a few reds and blues.  White flesh, some with a bit of red or blue.  White tubers with partially red flesh.  Medium deep eyes.  Many tubers sprouting at harvest.  Mostly long day.  Stolons short to long.  Heavy flowering and berrying.

Commentary

Candelaro means “candlestick,” probably referring to the long white tubers with a bit of red.
